ABOUT US

Redditch Blues was founded in 1993 by a group of friends who wanted a way to get to the games more easily. The first committe was then set up by Sam Joseph, Dave Wormington, Paul Sheldon, Micky Lakin and Mark Court when Blues recognised them as an official supporters club.

Originally, the club used to meet at South Redditch Sports and Social Club and later moved to Studley Road Social Club. In 2009, the club moved to The Oast House, and Lynda Courts took over the running of the club, with help from Nigel Davidson.

Lynda is a Solihull-born Maths teacher, who is now retired and living in Redditch with her husband, having moved from Northfield to live in Redditch in 1989. Her daughter also lives in Redditch with her partner and Lynda's 2 grandsons. The oldest was born in January 2019 and attended his first game away at Swansea at the age of 2 weeks and 2 days, whilst the younger was born in June 2021 and hasn't missed a game to date! Lynda's son lives in central Birmingham. All 6 members of her family travel to every Blues home and away game, having had a season ticket in the Kop for years.

Nigel decided to step down as chairman in June 2019 as Lynda was retiring and able to manage most of the running of the club herself from then on, but Mark Marshall joined her to assist with decision making.

Mark, who was brought up in Rednal in Birmingham, now lives in Redditch with his wife, and his children and grandchildren live locally too. He has followed Blues since he was a child and attends the women's games as well with Lynda as he is also retired.

Redditch Blues organise coaches and tickets to all home and away games, including most pre-season friendlies. In 2011, 7 coaches were taken to Wembley to watch Blues win the Carling Cup! The club had always used Hardings International Coaches until August 2009 when they opted for a change to Johnsons Coaches.

The club also organise events, in the past having stars such as Steve Bruce and Trevor Francis down to meet the fans. Also, in July 2011, the Carling Cup made an appearance at the end of season AGM, giving members of Redditch Blues the chance to have their photo with the cup.

Average membership over recent years has been around 250 members, but some years membership has been as high as 523. Most members are from Redditch, but there are also several members from Studley, Bromsgrove, Solihull, Alcester and Droitwich and as far afield as Devon, Stroud and Telford.
